Approval of January minutes

Steven Rodger moved to approve minutes. Hannah Frankel seconded the motion.

Treasure’s Report

This agenda item was tabled at this time because the Treasurer was unable to attend this month’s meeting.

Good News

It’s My Park Day occurred on March 7 and 8th. Parks Committee planted trees.

Hannah Frankel provided an update regarding the grant applications which have been submitted to aid in the purchase of a pavilion for the park.  Unfortunately, the grant for $100,000 was not awarded to Wooten Neighborhood Association. The Park’s Committee is still awaiting feedback on another $50,000 grant application. It is likely that several grants will need to be awarded in order to purchase the pavilion.

APD/ Officer Chapman

This agenda item was tabled because Officer Chapman was unable to attend this month’s meeting.

Graffiti Abatement

There has been some difficulty getting in touch with the City of Austin contact who oversees graffiti abatement. Graffiti is an issue which can be addressed through Neighborhood Watch.

Question and Answer for graffiti abatement.

Q: Where are the graffiti issues?
A: Near Shu Shu’s

Mobility Committee

This committee includes traffic calming issues within the neighborhood and other tangential issues such as traffic on Burnet Rd..

Question, answer, discussion and comments regarding Mobility Committee and committees in general.

Comment: Compost Committee is an area of interest.
Discussion: There are several websites or opportunities to get updates about Wooten Neighborhood Association. There seemed to be a general consensus around the benefit of using several different media methods to provide updates.  Meeting participants, Dave and Ronnie, offered to lend support to improve the website.
Question: How do I learn more about traffic calming
Answer: There is a packet available online through the City of Austin’s website.

Plan for Next Wootenanny Happy Hour

Several options were discussed as the happy hour location. They included: Night Owl (if open), Sherlock’s Pub, Slab BBQ and Poodle Lounge. An idea to send out a poll to vote on meeting location through Facebook, Next Door, and Yahoo.

Closing Comment: Neighborhood Contact Team will meet at 7:00 pm next Monday, March 20th at SLAB BBQ. Zoning requests are presented to the Neighborhood Contact Team. The team’s input is provided and should be considered when zoning decisions are made.

Motion to adjourn the meeting at  7:50 pm.
