On Friday, January 16, neighbors, parents, students, and community leaders gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Wooten Elementary.
The grand opening included speeches from Councilman Vela, Austin Board of Trustees Trustee Kevin Foster, Principal Martinez, and several students.
Mariachis performed to help mark the occasion, and a news crew was also present.
Before the grand opening, many neighbors helped teachers prepare for the first day of school. More than 30 Wooten residents came out to support the school.
Thank you to everyone who attended the grand opening or helped teachers get ready for the new school year.
